Bridgeport Band takes to the streets in Scottsbluff
by Titus K
October 16, 2007
It all started at 5:45 in the morning. Angela Wickard, Titus
Kautz, and Mrs. Roberts loaded up the van and traveled to
Scottsbluff to audition for all-state, the biggest and best honor
band and choir available in the state of Nebraska. Angela
auditioned for choir while Titus auditioned for choir and band.
They will receive information on if they made it on October 23rd.
After singing and playing their hearts out, the trio met up with
the Bridgeport Band gearing up for the Best in the West parade.
After pulling on their uniforms and snapping their instruments
together, the band lined for inspection (when a National Guard
officer checks posture, line alignment, and horn angle of the
band.) The band scored high marks on inspection and received a two,
excellent, on the parade overall (rankings are dealt with on a one
to five scale, five being the worst.) Director Mr. Roberts
commented on the band’s performance, “Overall, I am pleased with
the progress the band has made this season. We may not have
achieved a division one rating, which was our goal, but in our
effort to achieve that goal, the band’s improvement and performance
was excellent.” Good job band and congratulations on a great
marching season.
