Special Meeting

Wednesday, October 3, 2007 – 7:00 PM

Jr./Sr. High School Media Center

 

President George Chikos called the special meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Roll call was taken.  Members present:  George Chikos, Kay Anderson, Justin Corman, Vickie Hall, Ken Jacobson, and Dale Nichols.  Also present were Superintendent Randy Butcher, Recording Secretary Vonnie Brown, Elementary Principal Kevin Myers, High School Principal Mike Mitchell and visitors. 

 

President Chikos informed the public of the Open Meetings Act posted by the library door.  Visitors were recognized.

 

The agenda was approved by consensus with no changes or additions.

 

There were no communications to be read.

 

 Unfinished Business:

 

It was moved by Hall and seconded by Nichols to adjourn to Executive Session at 7:05.  Yes: Chikos, Anderson, Nichols, Jacobson, Hall, and Corman.  No: None.

 

The board returned from Executive Session at 8:15 and President George Chikos called the regular meeting back to order at 8:17.

 

There was a motion by Corman and seconded by Nichols stating, “The Superintendent shall not have discretion in cases dealing with tobacco, alcoholic beverages, drugs, controlled substances, and criminal offenses committed at the school or while attending a school sponsored activity.  In such instances, the student will be ineligible to compete or participate in any extra curricular activity for the remainder of the school year.”  Yes: Nichols, Jacobson, Hall, and Corman.  No: Chikos and Anderson.

 

New Business:

 

There was discussion of the board’s decision to implement the use of a breathalyzer at school sponsored dances.  It was moved by Jacobson and seconded by Anderson to accept the proposed policy regarding the use of the breathalyzer.  Yes: Chikos, Anderson, Nichols, Jacobson, Hall, and Corman.  No: None.

 

It was moved by Chikos and seconded by Nichols to adjourn at 8:30 p.m.  Yes: Chikos, Anderson, Nichols, Jacobson, Hall, and Corman.  No: none.
