The Bridgeport Bulldog football team closed out its season in
fine fashion with a 30-20 win over the Chase County Longhorns. The
Bulldogs used a 12-point first quarter and a 12-point third quarter
to defeat the Longhorns. Jase Dean scored four touchdowns and had
148 yards rushing to lead the Bulldogs.
The scoring started early for the Bulldogs when Jase Dean connected
on a 36-yard touchdown strike to Cory Faessler to put the Bulldogs
up 6-0 on the first play from scrimmage. Dean would get on the
board again with an 8-yard run. That score was the result of an
efficient 13-play, 89-yard drive by the Bulldogs. The quarter ended
with the Bulldogs up 12-0.
Chase County didn’t quit. The Longhorns took the lead at the half
by a score of 14-12. However, Bridgeport wasn’t done scoring.
In the second half, the Bulldogs took advantage of some good field
position when the second drive of the game started on the Longhorn
19-yardline, resulting in a Dean touchdown.
Shane Laux forced a fumble which led to good field position
again.
The next Bulldog drive started on the 29-yardline of Chase
County.
Dean rolled off three touchdowns of 3 yards, 14 yards, and 31 yards
and the Bulldogs never looked back.
Chase County scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the
Bulldogs wrapped up the win in spite of that.
Chance Cunningham had 46 yards rushing and Cory Faessler had 23
yards.
Cory Faessler had 53 yards receiving.
