Bridgeport girls win against Leyton

On Friday night the Lady Bulldogs played the Leyton Warriors at Leyton and won 35-31
In the first quarter the Bulldogs had a slim 3 point lead over the Warriors, with the score being 12 – 9. In the second quarter the Warriors were leading 24-16, and the Lady Bulldogs only scored 4 points where Leyton scored 15. In the third the Bulldogs came back and shut out Leyton and brought the score back to 27-24, scoring 11 points. In the final quarter the Bulldogs kept it up with a 35-31 final score, with 8 points and Leyton scoring 7.
Coach Schluterbusch said, “Our offense in the 2nd half improved and our defense was solid most of the game. We need to work on our ball handling and shooting the ball.”
Renae Jacobson had 7 points, Ashley Vergil had 4 points, Courtney Laux had 8 points, Simonne Spurgeon had 2 points, Charlee Wallesen had 9 points, and Natalie Hadden had 5 points.
The junior varsity girls also played a very good game against Leyton. The final score was 52-14 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Karlee Palmer had 2 points, Molly Steer had 8, Simonne Spurgeon had 17, Emily Pankowski had 2, Manda Steer had 7, Taylor Huck had 2, Alyssa Peters had 2, Marissa Steer had 7, and Emily Wright had 3, and Nicole Hass had 2 points. Good Job girls!
