Boys seize BHS tournament championship

Last Friday and Saturday the Bridgeport Bulldogs hosted the Bridgeport Invite. The tournament consisted of both the varsity boys and girls, with the competition being Garden County, Hemingford, and Crawford.
On Friday the Dogs dominated the floor with an 18- point win against Crawford leaving the score 59-41. Leading in points for the boys was Destry S with 19 points. Following Sterkel with 12 points were Cory F and Jase D scoring 9 points. Hardan K and Bryce D had 8 and 7 points respectively. Trevor Z scored 4 points helping the boys to the win.
Ending the game with a positive attitude the boys went into Saturday’s game against Garden County hoping for the same outcome. The first quarter ended with Garden County having a two point lead of 5-7. The Bulldogs worked hard in the second quarter but the time ran out and Garden County managed to hold on to the lead by three points: 14-17. Coming back after half the boys had one thing on their minds and that was to win the championship game. They had a scoring streak bumping the score to 23-21 by the end of the third quarter with the Bulldogs in the lead. By the fourth quarter the boys kept up their game not falling behind and not letting Garden County score they ended the game with an 8 point lead making the score: Bridgeport 33, Garden County 25. The players who scored in the game were Destry S 16, Hardan K 5, Cory F and Steven T both 4 points, Jase D made three points, and Bryce D scored one point. Congratulations boys on the victory!
