Bridgeport Places Second At Hershey Invite

The Bulldogs left at 6:30 a.m. on the morning of September 27, to travel to Hershey, Nebraska for the Hershey Invite.
The Bulldog’s first match up was against the Gothenburg Swedes. Courtney Laux led the team with 4 kills. Trailing her was Marissa Steer and Manda Steer each with 3 kills. Molly Steer and Alexa Lapaseotes had 2 kills. Renae Jacobson, Ashley Stevens, and Charlee Wallesen all had 1 kill. Angelica Gonzales helped the Bulldogs with 2 digs.
“Our defense was a big factor in this game. We did a great job digging to keep things going. Our serving was another added bonus with 11 aces and only 2 errors.” Said Coach Rahmig.

The Second match for Bridgeport was against another Bulldogs team from Ainsworth. Manda Steer led Bridgeport with 7 kills. Courtney Laux had 6 kills. Ashley Stevens came away with 4 kills. Renae Jacobson and Marissa Steer had 3 kills each and Alexa lapaseotes came away with 1. Molly Steer had a total of 16 set-assists.
“During the match the girls struggled to play ‘our’ game. The second set we were more focused on our game and playing together.” Said Coach Rahmig.

Then the Bridgeport Bulldogs went up against the Hershey Panthers. Courtney Laux gained momentum for Bridgeport with 12 kills. Right behind her was Renae Jacobson with 11 kills. Marissa Steer and Manda Steer each had 5 kills. Ashley Stevens had 3 kills while Charlee Wallesen had 1 kill. Molly Steer had 25 set-assists. Alexa Lapaseotes led the team with 15 digs from the back row.
Coach Rahmig commented, “At times we played really well as a team. When we are aggressive and swing at the ball we can really get things going. When the game is tight we tend to play cautious and allow them back in the game.”
