Wow! What a great Homecoming week with all of Bridgeport High School’s athletes competing so well and the student body and community showing such spirit. The bon-fire had a great turn out and the student body had a lot of fun competing in the various games with some teachers involved as well. The night ended around 8:30 p.m. with many students congregating in the community center parking lot. The BHS Booster Club would like to thank Kellye Riggs, Misty Graham, Jessica Valasquez, and Jessica Martin for all of their help. We would also like to thank the BHS cheerleading team for their great performance. Good job with the cooking Nick and Willis.
The Homecoming parade had many floats participate. The winning class float was the Junior class receiving first place and $100.00 to their class fund from the BHS Booster Club. The Second place winning class was the Freshman class receiving $50.00 to their class fund from the BHS Booster Club. There were a total of 26 entries in the parade. We would like to thank Kevin Myers for judging the floats.
Many businesses participated in the First Annual “Bridgeport Pride Award” contest. The Platte Valley National Bank received the trophy for their fantastic display that carried out the theme for the 2008 homecoming week of “A New Beginning”. We would like to thank Brandi, Tony, and Kristy for judging such a fierce competition. Honorable Mentions are: City of Bridgeport, Cenex, Courthouse Kids, and Koke’s Napa. We look forward to the competition next year and many more businesses competing for the trophy.
The Scavenger Hunt winning class was the Junior class. They will receive a pizza dinner provided by Cenex.
Friday evening the Junior Class Chili feed was a huge success as they sold out of food. The sheet decorating contest was judged by Kevin Myers and won by the Junior class who will receive $50.00 for their class fund from the BHS Booster Club. The football field looked great and we thank Mike Asmus, Michelle Keszler and Holly Widener for their help in this endeavor.
The meal for the football team after the game was provided by some football parents at the community center and I know that was appreciated by the coaches and players immensely. Thanks again to Jessica Martin for staying late for us.
