BRIDGEPORT VARSITY FOOTBALL 6 KIMBALL 44
A pretty good and well coached Kimball team came to town this past week and handed us a 44-6 defeat. We were missing some kids due to illness and injury and had to call upon a few others to step up. All of last season and at seasons end, I emphasized the importance of staying in shape and getting faster and stronger. Not only is it important for a regular starter to improve, but it is important for other players who wish to earn more playing time and contribute to be “ready” for their opportunity. Football season lasts about 3 months if you can make the playoffs. If athletes are not staying in shape and lifting during either other sports or on their own the other 9 months; the results are obviously not good. We don’t have a young man who has not tried to play hard and who does not want to have success. We have some who want to dedicate themselves to more than just themselves and prepare well!! Strength, agility, and conditioning are important but strength is not everything.
We still have opportunities ahead of us and this group of young men will hang in there and persevere. Homecoming this week and I hope we can get some players healed. Dundy County is a solid team and will present a challenge for us Friday. I have faith that our young men will rise to the occasion and give a great effort!! See you there.
