We lost a hard fought game this past Friday. After reviewing some film I thought our young played a much improved “physical” type of game. We bent a little as we allowed 57 plays to Dundy to only 46 for us but kept them out of the end zone and made an excellent rushing team throw the ball. We put together 195 yards of total offense but made a couple of critical mistakes (penalties and missed blocks inside their 15 yard line) which hurt.
As I mentioned, our physical play was improved but we just couldn’t play harder longer than Dundy. Part of that is simply needing 11 guys on the field who are stronger and more determined. Part of that is fatigue due to some kids playing hard and needing rest. We will need to continue to work on being more consistent at following our defensive assignments 100% of the time 100% effort without any hesitation.
This is a group that will continue to work hard as a team. We travel to Bayard Friday and I am sure that will be a fun game to play for both teams. There should be a lot of enthusiasm. Thanks to our student body, parents, fans, and the Booster Club for your support and for taking the time to feed Dundy’s team and our team after the game. We really appreciate the positive support!
