Lady Bulldogs are WTC Champs!

The 2009 Western Trail Volleyball Tournament Trophy belongs to the Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs rallied to defeat the Morrill Lady Lions during the championship game of the conference tournament played at Bridgeport on October 24th.
After losing the first set during the championship game by the score of 25-27, the Lady Bulldogs won the final two sets 25-16 and 25-22. The win improved Bridgeport’s overall record to 21-8 for the season.
During the title match, the Lady Bulldogs were led by the strong hitting of seniors Courtney L and Manda S collecting 22 and 10 kills respectively. Charlee W set the ball extremely well throughout the match leading the team with 33 assists. Laramie G led the Lady Bulldogs with two ace serves.
Defensively, Bridgeport was led by Courtney and Manda with 22 digs each. Charlee passed the ball very well recording 13 digs. Senior Tessa H added 12 digs and led the team with 5 blocks.
The Lady Bulldogs advanced to the championship game by defeating the Mitchell Lady Tigers by the scores of 25-21 and 25-18. Bridgeport was led by sophomore Ashley S with seven kills and Courtney with six kills. Charlee set the ball very well recording 17 assists.
The Lady Bulldogs demonstrated their strong defensive abilities by digging many of the Lady Tigers’ attacks. Leading the charge for Bridgeport were Courtney with 14 digs followed by Manda with 10 digs. Tess H has played the net well all year and led the team with four blocks.
With its win over the Lady Lions, the Lady Bulldogs won the Western Trails Conference Tournament Championship for the first time since 2003. Congratulations, ladies! Keep the momentum going.
