District Wrestling Results-Hall and Hoxworth Go To State!

The Bridgeport wrestlers finished in 12th place in the District Tournament in Hershey. C-4 was perhaps the toughest of the Class C districts with 16 teams. The Bulldogs took six to the tournament and placed two.
At 140 Nicholas L had to battle in the toughest weight class of the tournament. After losing an early match he battle back but was unable to pull off the upset in the consolation quarterfinals. Like Nicholas, Dan H was the number 7 seed but battled through the wrestlebacks until losing a 2-1 decision to the eventual 4th place finisher. At 152 Collin D reached the semifinals before losing a match. He then battled into the consolation semifinals before being eliminated. These three all showed significant improvement over last year but found themselves in very tough weight divisions.
At 135 Chance H lost in the quarterfinals but battled back to the consolation semifinals with an opportunity to qualify for the state meet. He faced the number 2 seed from Loomis/Bertrand but pulled off the upset to earn a trip to state. He finished in fourth place.
At 189 Josh H reached the semifinals where he lost to defending state champion Jordan Debus. He won his consolation semifinal with a pin to earn the trip to state and then won in the consolation final to finish in 3rd place. Chance and Josh will compete in Omaha at 8:30 on Thursday in the first round of the state tournament.
