Six of the eight Bridgeport wrestlers that competed at Western Trails Conference held in Bayard on Thursday, January 4, medaled. Bridgeport placed fifth overall, but fourth in WTC because Sidney and Banner County also competed in this meet.
Brandon N. (138) and Josh (195) both won gold medals after winning all five of their matches. Kaden (132) went 2-0 for the day in the JV bracket.
Dakota S., wrestling at 113, won second place after falling to Connor Lococo of Sidney. Brent, wrestling at 220, also took home the silver after a decision in his last match.
Collin (160) placed third finishing with a 2-2 record for the day. Blake (170) took fourth place, finishing the day with a 2-3 record.
Peyton (113), Dylan (120), Wes (132), and Brandon C. (132) also competed at WTC.
“We were only able to fill eight weight classes, but we placed in six. This was a good effort and a good start after the break,” commented Coach Johnson.
