Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirements:
In order to graduate from Bridgeport High School student must have completed eight semesters of full-time high school attendance with the final semester as a full time student at Bridgeport High School. Upon satisfactory completion of a minimum of 240 credits of instruction, eligible students are considered to have met the requirements of the district and are awarded a diploma. These credits include those required by Nebraska State School Law and by this district.
The curriculum requirements are sent forth by the Board of Education to provide students with an academic background deserving of a high school diploma. Students must enroll in and complete seven (7) courses each year in addition to meeting the specific course requirements listed below:
1. Forty credits(40) in English including English 9, English 10,
English 11 and English 12.
2. Thirty credits(30) in Mathematics. Math paths:
[1] Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Calculus
[1] Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry
[2] Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2
[3] Pre-Algebra, Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2
3. Thirty credits(30) in Science including Physical Science(9th grade), Biology (10th grade) and any one of the advanced science class.
4. Thirty credits(30) in Social Studies including World History or World Geography (9th Grade), US History (11th grade) and US Government (12th grade).
5. Thirty credits(30) in Vocational Education including 10 credits in Computer Applications(9th grade) and 20 credits in Business, Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Technology or Journalism.
6. Ten credits(10) in Fine Arts. Students may choose from Art, Band, Choir or Spanish classes.
7. Ten credits(10) in Physical Education. Students may choose a Physical Education class or a Strength & Conditioning Class to meet this credit requirement.
