The power of positive attitudes

By Kimberly

November 21, 2011

Positive attitudes and the desire to learn were the empowering forces on November 2, 2011, as Minatare hosted the annual Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Conference at Bridgeport Community Center.
The theme for this leadership program was “There’s No Place Like FCCLA” based off the classical book and movie “The Wizard of Oz.”
There were eight schools in attendance: Minatare, Bridgeport, Sidney, Hemingford, Leyton, Creek Valley, Scottsbluff, and Alliance. There were also three sessions which different students could attend and learn about the meaning of FCCLA.
“I enjoyed the speakers the most from the conference because they were motivational and inspiring,” said senior Kalesha.
Session speakers and chapter officers spoke about how one should be a better person and do wonderful things to help other people around the community.
Sue Herdt was chosen by Minatare as The OZ Principle of this year’s FCCLA conference. She was the most extraordinary speaker and was very enthusiastic to the students who joined FCCLA. Herdt spoke about always being helpful to other people and maintaining a positive attitude in all that you do.
